Acupuncture And Cs Deliveries In War-torn Iraq

Acupuncture has long been applied to ease the pain during labor and childbirth but only a few have discussed about acupuncture being used for Caesarian section deliveries.
A Caesarian section delivery is usually conducted when the placenta is lying too low in the uterus blocking the birth canal, or when normal delivery is not possible due to vaginal bleeding, or when the baby is at the risk of losing oxygen, among other reasons.
During a Caesarian operation, an incision measuring about 20 centimeters will be done at the lower abdomen of the mother. After the womb is opened, the baby is delivered through the incision on the skin, which will take less than 20 minutes.
A very recent study bared that in war-torn Iraq, doctors who are faced with the dilemma of anesthetic drug shortage and the lack of skills, have successfully applied acupuncture treatments for Caesarean section deliveries.
Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing that uses hair-like needles to stimulate the acupuncture points that are located along the meridian pathways where the body’s vital energy flows, known as Qi. This practice originated from China thousands of years ago.
The researchers expressed confidence that acupuncture could be a vital addition to the conventional medical practice in modern hospitals, if the results of their study will be replicated in a study of a larger scale.
The study revealed that between 2004 and 2006, acupuncture was applied in over 200 emergency cases involving Caesarian section deliveries at the Red Crescent Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics in Baghdad.
In Iraq, most expectant mothers were advised to deliver their babies at home considering the danger that is lurking everywhere in the city. Only those who are deemed as high-risk pregnancy cases are attended to at the hospital.
In fully equipped medical facilities, Oxytocin is normally used to neutralize the effects of halothane, which tends to relax the womb but heightens the risk of bleeding. Unfortunately, there was a shortage of Oxytocin, thus acupuncture was applied to counter the halothane effect.
Right after the Caesarian section delivery, acupuncture needles are then inserted into the mother’s ankles and toes. The needles are then stimulated manually for about 10 minutes. The acupuncture points being stimulated are associated with difficult labor, uterine contractions, placenta retention, prolapse of the womb, and bleeding of the womb.
About fifty percent of the women who experienced uterine contraction no longer needed oxytocin. In a ratio of one in five, two to five units of oxytocin were needed, while four needed beyond five units of oxytocin. Without acupuncture, normal dosage of oxytocin would be around 10 to 20 units.
Aside from aiding Caesarian section deliveries, acupuncture has also been proven effective in aiding induced deliveries, encourage natural deliveries, and most specially to ease the excruciating pain that comes with childbirth.

Home Remedies Scars – Curse My Scar
What are the different home remedies scars? But first, what is a scar? A scar is a manifestation of the skin’s healing process. After skin or tissue is wounded, the body releases the protein collagen to mend the damage by reattaching the damaged skin. As the wound heals, a temporary crust forms and covers it. The crust is a scab that protects the damaged area. Scars may develop from cuts, sores, surgery, burns, and even acne.

Former Iraq Contractor Spills the Beans on KBR
Posted: Dec 27, 2009 |Comments: 0
For 3.5 years, from February 2006 to late May 2009 I was working in Iraq for KBR as a heavy truck driver. I started off at a southern Iraq fuel depot in 2006, eventually getting transferred to a nice coalition camp, and at last the Green Zone. My experience lies in the 200 + missions I was a part of.
Want to apply? It’s FREE. Laundry attendants make $70k per year! halliburton jobs or you can try kbr jobs
Our schedule was hectic to say in the least. KBR schedules all of it’s employees on a 12/7 week. Yes, that’s twelve hours per day, seven days per week! Even the soldiers get time off there. One would think that for the people hauling jet fuel around Baghdad, that it may improve safety by giving us an occasional day off. For the general public that is clueless, KBR has the highest accident rates of any entity in the two wars we’re waging in that part of the world. It’s not hard to see why!
For every one expat from the west, I.E. US, UK, or AU, there are about five foreign nationals from places like India, Pakistan, Ghana and many other poor nations. These people were placed under our supervision. They are on the same schedule as us, yet make 1/10th the income. And bear in mind KBR is compensated for them at the same rate as us. Each driver brings KBR around $12,000 per month from the US government. So in a sense KBR is just an employment agency.
They do provide vacation time to the expats every 120 days. If this weren’t so on the schedule they go by, then there would no doubt be many more acts of violence against KBR security. An incident occured at Camp Liberty that I won’t go into detail about. But you get the idea.
The people who actually are responsible for getting anything done in Iraq is the soldiers who go on patrol, and the mostly civilian drivers who keep all the camps supplied with every thing needed to operate. Food, fuel, clothing, equipment, you name it they deliver it.
It can be dangerous there. I won’t candy coat anything and say it’s not. But everyone has their limits. You just have to know yours before trying such a job. KBR is definitely the most demanding employer there. Even more so perhaps than the military. I am including links for anyone who wishes to apply. It’s free, and if you’re wacked enough to go for it by all means have at it. They hire people from every country, so I just want to say “good-luck” if you go!

Crony Contracts and the Bush Administration
Private contracts are handed out by the federal government in droves these days. However, the use of private contractors is an old tool of the government. Private contractors were used during the removal of Native Americans from the southeast. In 1831 thirteen thousand Choctaws made the long, forced trek from their home in Mississippi to the arid prairies of the mid-west. Howard Zinn said, in his book A People’s History of the United States, “The army was supposed to organize their trek, but it

Over the last few years there has been much unrest in Iraq that has mean the deployment of the United Nations armed forces. The military activities included air and land operations, all of which have benefited from GPS technology and satellite tracking.

In today’s hostile world the use of GPS tracking solutions has been a part of day-to-day life. Not only for domestic uses, but also for the deployment of crisis management and risk management solutions for the military, navy, air force and aid workers. GPS technology enables forces and operators to respond quickly in the event of an emergency and where medical treatment or rescue operations are required time is a critical factor.

The safety of personnel is paramount during any military operation. There is nothing worst than being caught off guard on foreign soil.

For troops on foot GPS tracking is like having a set of eyes in the sky. By communicating with a central control management post the teams on the ground can be kept up to date with the latest enemy movement and avoid areas of potential conflict.

For convoys on the ground GPS tracking is essential. Not only so that the central communications base can monitor the whereabouts of the fleet, but also so that assistance can be sent should a breakdown or ambush occur. A convoy could not only be transporting valuable goods, but also personnel and where human life is involved there should be no room for risk of crisis.

In the air, units are fitted with GPS tracking devices so that aircrafts can be monitored. Helicopters and Aircrafts are probably the two most valuable assets in Iraq in terms of value so its important that emergency responses are efficient.

Due to the technology and infrastructure behind GPS tracking it is the ideal form of communication and monitoring in remote conflict situations. The devices do not rely on any form of localized communications infrastructure that could be subject to sabotage. All communication is relayed via the network of Satellites that orbit the Earth. This means that, especially in places such as Iraq, there is very little to interfere with the signal between the satellite and the device.

Iraq eyes 8 foreign firms for $3bln metro project

BAGHDAD, – Iraq has shortlisted eight foreign firms for the construction of a $3 billion metro rail through the capital Baghdad as it seeks to rebuild infrastructure damaged by decades of war and underinvestment.
Baghdad Invest Founder Jamie Johnson “The metro rail will help to solve a big part of the problem in Baghdad’s streets, which suffer from huge traffic jams due to the continuous rise in the number of cars that have entered Iraq (since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion),” the office said in a statement.
Most commuters in Baghdad are dependent on taxis and buses for transport, and it often takes hours to travel short distances due to traffic congestion and long queues at security checkpoints which are dotted all over the city.
The underground project, which was initially drafted in the 1980s but put on hold due to years of war and international sanctions, will be the first of its kind in the war-shattered country if it comes to fruition.
Violence in Iraq has dropped sharply in the last two years, giving government the chance to invite foreign firms to invest in the country to help rebuild its deteriorated infrastructure.
The first line of the metro, which will be 21 km (13 miles) long and have 21 stations, will start in al-Mesbah in central Baghdad and then split into two minor lines. One of the lines will end in Weshash in western Baghdad and the second in the southwestern Bayaa area.
The metro’s second major line, expected to be around 18 km (11.2 miles) long and have 20 stations, will start in the Sadr City district in northeastern Baghdad, pass through central Baghdad, and end in the northern Adhamiya area.
