Do you have important plans for your check? Just getting by? Paying off bills? No matter what you have planned our first concern is for the safe delivery of the check. With so many rumors floating around I decided to some research and find out more about the Economic Stimulus Check and dispel the myths surrounding it.
The Economic Stimulus Check is a tax rebate to taxpayers as a result of several income tax changes. Payments are sent out over the course of several weeks, with the mailing date to vary according the last two digits of the taxpayers Social Security number. For tax payers who filed electronically and had their tax refund direct deposited (or payment direct withdrawal) your income tax rebate will be direct deposited to your bank that was used for your deposit or payment. Taxpayers who submitted their income tax return via mail will have their checks issued the same day as those who filed electronically, however, their payments will be delivered via regular U.S. mail. If you have not paid your taxes or filed your return yet, your rebate will be held until that step is completed.
Many already know the amount to be issued to tax payers: $600.00 for individual taxpayer, $1200.00 for married filing jointly, and a possible $300.00 per qualifying child, born after December, 1990. However, many people do not know that they may not receive those amounts. It is possible that your Economic Stimulus Check may be offset by back taxes owed, unpaid student loans and several other government factors. How will this affect you? It is hard to tell, and you won’t know your exact amount until your check arrives.
With the availability of money and the use of technology, it is no wonder that a new phishing scam has been created regarding the Economic Stimulus Check. Phishing scams are emails that attempt to lure you to a website to gain personal or financial information. One of the newest scams is a message that appears to be from the Internal Revenue Service delivered to your email address. And like many other phishing scams this message appears to be authentic and legitimate, especially since many tax payers file electronically and use their email address to confirm their filing status.
This message is used to gain your name, address, social security and even bank account information and provides you with a link to a website and the instructions to “click the link below and fill out the necessary information to receive your 2008 Stimulus Economic Refund.” If you do click the link, you are at the very least verifying that the message was sent to a “real” email address, leaving yourself open to other phishing scams, even if you do not complete the “form.”
The Internal Revenue Service website requests that if you receive this message you forward it to phishing@irs.gov. Do not open it. Not only can this message be a phishing scam but it could also contain viruses harmful to your computer. The information stolen is all that is needed to intercept your Economic Stimulus check or even to steal your identity.
Many antivirus and email programs contain phishing detection, but if you don’t, or if you are worried about the quality of the messages you receive you may look into purchasing an antivirus software system that also provides phishing scam detection, such as Stopzilla, F-Secure Internet Security Suite, or AVG Internet Security (one of the for pay products) Trend Micro PC-cillin and many more antivirus products are designing their software to detect and stop phishing scams before they can do harm to your computer, information and credit.

When we talk about immigration control some people imagine Mexican nationals been detained at the US-Mexico border. It is not that simple. First, we need to keep in mind that there is legal immigration and illegal immigration. We should not stereotype immigrants because, at the end, Most of us are Immigrants or descendents of immigrants in this country. There is a general misunderstanding and radicalism to the immigration subject. Let’s keep in mind that some of the new laws implemented by the department of National Security of the USA are proving effective.
Immigrating to the US legally is a way to control the relocating and reuniting of families to the country .The process could be slow and painful to some people but it assures a legal position and increases security to the rest of the population. The process to follow involves certain knowledge of the US Immigration Law which is not generally known by newcomers but the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is doing a good job on trying to keep people informed. Every person has the opportunity of hiring a professional to help them with the legal matters which might make the process easier for them. Illegal immigration takes many other issues to the table. The first question is some how rhetoric. Why do people immigrate to the United States? Logically, they want to have a better life than what they had in their country of origin. Some immigrate to the US to avoid prosecution, others because they want to reunite with their love ones but, a big part of the illegal immigrants come to the United States to be able to provide to their families. It is commonly known that the economic status of the United States is higher that most of the other countries of the world. Unfortunately, the reason to immigrate to the United States, valid or not, does not make it legal. The government has created different agencies of law to control the flow of illegal aliens to protect its economy and the economy of its citizens. We can be sure that these agencies are doing a good job to the extent of their capabilities.
Along with this situation comes the stereotyping of people. Unwillingly, media has played a major part on this situation. The news about the detention of a new group of illegal immigrants and the attention that some television programs get when talking about immigration have created an environment of dislike to some groups of the general population. We need to make conscience that not all of the illegal immigrants come from the same country. An illegal immigrant does not have a particular skin color, accent or clothing preference. The best thing to do for a common citizen is to assume that the person they could be looking at has the same rights under the law that he does. This does not mean that an employer is going to exclude anyone from providing him with prove of legal status in this country when applying for employment because that is one of the government regulations that we most follow. On the other hand, we can not assume that because a person has certain characteristics he is an illegal alien. It is the job of the law enforcing agencies to decide. I firmly believe that we should assist the government to enforce the law but we can not take the law in our hands.
The creation of some anti-immigrant groups that radicalize the immigration issue has not helped the process of Law. We can not act against the law trying to enforce it. It is not an “I am right and you are wrong” matter. In the United States we have the right to assemble groups of any faction as long as we do it by the rules and obey the law. As the economy changes we perceive the need of new laws to improve the social situation and our own. We can help make the change happen by exposing our opinion to our representatives and voting for the ones that reflect a position more similar to ours. The wrong way to do it is to try to make others follow our way of thinking by force instead of exposing the issue and consentience others. We could only create a situation of hate among Americans instead of unite towards a common goal. Another way of stream radicalism is to call other people names that derivate from certain race or national origin. It is true that sometimes we say things without thinking due to a temporary set of mind but one of the purposes of this article is create conscience about the subject.
The United States of America is not a country like any other. The human side of the Law and the understanding of its people make it a country in which everyone would like to live. It is the country that offers the best opportunities to its people. Let’s hope to find a good solution to the immigration situation that prevails at this time without affecting the credibility of this country’s laws.

The political future of India is being hotly debated in the current pre-election scenario with questions like âwho will form the next government?â and âwho will be the next prime minister of India?â being uppermost in everyone’s mind.
The question bothering me, however, is that âIs it really possible to answer such questions based on astrology for a country blessed with political volatility like that of India?â There are at least ten prospective prime ministerial candidates for the upcoming general elections, of which there are a few like Dr. Manmohan Singh, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi who nurture an unexpressed desire for the position. Some of the other possible contenders for the position include Sh. L.K. Advani, Sh. Narendra Modi, Smt. Mayawati, Sh. Sharad Pawar, Sh. Deve Gowda, Sh. Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sh. Ram Vilas Paswan.
Taking up the first question, âwho will form the next government of India?,â one can easily see how national and regional parties have been busy promoting themselves. Even the common man can make out which of the two prominent national parties might enjoy a greater share of seats and which one lesser. He can also make an assessment of which regional parties might provide support to the national parties and the general political scenario at the time of elections.
When we consider the possibility of making such predictions on the basis of astrology, however, problems of a completely different nature arise. As, for instance, the date and time when the party was formally constituted are some of the essential requirements to make any kind of astrological predictions, which are not easily available most of the time. Now the question is, then how can astrological answers be sought about which parties would come together and who will form the next government.
Are birth details including the date, time and place of birth available for all the politicians? And if not, then how can astrological predictions be made about them with any level of certainty?
As part of the research and analysis conducted by âAstrological Research Centreâ in the field of politics, we observed that people have already started making detailed astrological analysis and assessments regarding the next government at the centre when no one could predict before or even after 2004 general elections, that Dr. Manmohan Singh will become the prime minister of India. Now, one can see that a period of one hour between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. has been mentioned as the time of birth. Does an hour’s variation really not matter in making Indian astrological calculations?
Despite this drawback, we tried to establish the time of birth based on past events in his life and made a few predictions as well. We also asked for details of Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, leader of the opposition as a prominent leader of the BJP in 1994. The letter received was signed by Sh. Vajpayee himself and mentioned hat he was born on 25 th December, 1926 in Gwalior at about 5:00 p.m. The time of birth was approximate and not based on a clock.
In both of the abovementioned cases, when politicians themselves are in doubt of their birth details, it would be sheer dishonesty to even imagine being able to come up with accurate predictions and any results can only be predicted in terms of approximations.
Similarly, without a proper knowledge of the birth details of small-time as well as prominent politicians of the day, and without information of the time when different political parties were constituted, how is it possible to make reliable predictions on Indian politics?
In recently held presidential elections in America, Mr. Barack Obama and Mrs. Hillary Clinton fought for the coveted position. In USA, people elect their president directly from two chosen candidates, and one with the strongest Rajayoga emerges as the winner. In this case, Hillary Clinton also became a part of Obama’s cabinet, but did not become the president, which could mean that although she also had a Rajyoga but not as strong as Obama himself.
Similar examples can be found across the globe, especially in places with scarce regional and small-time parties unlike India. Political organizations of all shapes and sizes come together in order to help form the government in India, which, from an astrological viewpoint, is further complicated by an unending confusion in birth details of most of the politicians, leading us to the inevitable conclusion that, if not impossible, it is extremely difficult to make authentic political predictions in a country with a political framework like that of India.
Taking up another example, in the last cricket world cup, a horde of astrologers, numerologists and tarot readers created media hype with predictions of India entering the semi-finals when the team was ousted in the first round itself. Likewise, before one of the matches, some tarot readers predicted that Sehwag will shine today but soon he was out for a duck. It could well mean that the tarot reader made an assessment about Sehwag but perhaps did not study the fortunes of the bowler who claimed his wicket.
In the same manner, in order to make authentic predictions regarding the political future of India, we may have to study the horoscopes of all the candidates contesting the elections from different part of the country to decide upon who will win the elections and what would be the actual political configuration between different political parties of the state. Otherwise, an astrologer would be able to guess just as much as the common man.
It is a matter of serious debate and research in Indian astrology that âwho will form the next government and who will be the next prime minister of India?â Else astrology and astrologers would only become a laughing stock for the world.
