IRAQ HAS A DATE WITH BIOFUEL PRODUCTION

Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, has announced approval for an agricultural project that will develop biofuel from rotting dates.

According to Reuters, “Iraq has the world’s third largest oil reserves but its crumbling farm sector, which has suffered from decades of sanctions, isolation and war, is the country’s leading employer.”

The dates-to-biofuel program, being developed by an unnamed company based in the United Arab Emirates, is seen as a way to encourage growth in the farming sector which Iraqi officials hope will ultimately lead to greater agricultural productivity.

Iraqi officials also hope it will reinvigorate their once vibrant date export industry. The country, which produced 900,000 tons of dates prior to the U.S. invasion, now produces only 350,000 tons. By giving farmers a way to profit from dates that are starting to rot, they help to minimize the risk.

And the oil rich country plans to use the biofuel domestically at first, with the possibility of future export.

In another oil exporting country, Oman, Oman Green Energy Company (OGEC), has been testing the development of biofuel from the date palm for some years. In the case of OGEC, they claim to use cellulosic biomass extracted from around the date palms and in a way that doesn’t interfere with the date crop.

In a 2008 study, desert dates were also found to be an excellent source of biofuel stock, especially for arid regions. The study focused particularly on the Arava desert in Israel and its potential to develop cost-effective biodiesel production.

While biodiesel production in oil poor Israel makes sense, biofuels might be seen as a gamble in a country like Oman which exports 700,000 barrels of oil a day, and derives 90% of its export revenue from oil.  Likewise a biofuel program in Iraq, where the country’s financial stability has been put in the hands of its oil industry, may seem out of place. And yet, biofuels are seen as delivering additional value. In Iraq, they may be the key to bringing back a devastated agricultural sector.

Part 12 of 12. From Book TV: About the Program From the City University of New York, authors George Galloway and Christopher Hitchens debate the war in Iraq. George Galloway, opposed to the Iraq War, is a member of the British Parliment and the author of “Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington: The Brit Who Set Congress Straight About Iraq.” The book tells the story of his recent appearance before the US Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, where he verbally attacked US Senators while responding to charges related to Iraq’s oil-for-food program. Christopher Hitchens, in favor of the Iraq War, is the author of “Love, Poverty, and War: Journeys and Essays” and “Blood, Class and Empire: The Enduring Anglo-American Relationship.” “Democracy Now!” radio host Amy Goodman moderates. She is the author of “The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them.” About the Author George Galloway is the Respect Party’s Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow in London. He won the seat after his expulsion from the Labour Party for his opposition to the Iraq War. Christopher Hitchens is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a visiting professor of liberal studies at the New School in New York.

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs), also known as, roadside bombs, have become extremely sophisticated since they were first used against our soldiers in Iraq. The insurgents have been able to improve from those used in the past through trial and error, there is some possibility that the explosives used are improving with help from Iran, and there have been increasing uses of IEDs not only in Iraq, but in Afghanistan as well. All these things spell disaster for U.S. soldiers who are caught in the blast. While this is not new, the longer we stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, the higher the number of those who must live with the effects of the blast. However, it isn’t only IEDs; it is mortars, rocket propelled grenades, and hand grenades, bullets, falls, and accidents that injure and kill. What’s more, while injuries to extremities, including amputation, are a life-changing event, brain injuries may be as bad or worse due to their nature.

Kevlar helmets have been a remarkable improvement over past military helmets in several ways. What may have killed a soldier in a past military engagement does not affect the helmet-wearer as severely today. Or so we’d like to believe. During an explosive blast, the brain can be smashed against the skull. This can cause a host of problems unseen for many years that may manifest is disturbing patterns of behavior. This is because the brain is often damaged in explosions. Even what seems like a slight concussion may be something worse. Soldiers who have survived explosions, and even those who treat them, may believe they are uninjured, or that that ringing in the soldiers’ ears is only due to the sound of the explosion.

Symptoms

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are sometimes difficult to diagnose because the symptoms could be something else. Also, many soldiers either refuse treatment or are denied it. There is also a stigma still attached to those troops who desire some kind of psychological help – even if the psychological problems are due to the effects of explosions during combat. As with civilian TBI, the symptoms are not much different:

· Blurred or double vision

· Changes in personality

· Difficulty concentrating

· Difficulty speaking

· Dilated pupils

· Disorientation

· Dizziness

· Memory loss

· Nausea and vomiting

· Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

· Severe headaches

What is different is that many of these symptoms are classified as part of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many combat troops return home with this condition. This is hidden by many soldiers who believe it a sign of weakness; and though PTSD is a real and debilitating condition, chances are high that if that soldier was involved in an explosion or suffered another type of head wound, they are most likely suffering a TBI.

Statistics

Currently, the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) believes that ten percent of all troops in Iraq may suffer concussions during combat, and that 20 percent of all troops fighting on the frontline may suffer concussions during combat. However, this may be significantly higher. It is also estimated that 1.5 million people a year sustain a TBI a year. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan help to push this number higher. Eighty thousand of these will need long-term care due to disabilities, and 50,000 of these will die due to their injuries.

It has been said that TBI is the “signature wound” of today’s wars. This is because so many soldiers are showing up at veterans hospitals with signs of head injuries. They are kept alive due to better equipment and medical care, but the costs to all of us – friends, family, tax payers – are high. Because the changes go on at the cellular level, the returning wounded may look fine, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Getting them adequate care is a must, and understanding their injury, which can be mysterious and unpredictable, is paramount to a rapid recovery. However, when care is denied due to the belief that the soldier is either faking it or suffering from symptoms that are related to something else, it may be necessary to contact an attorney with experience in traumatic brain injuries.

Involvement of Iraq in London plans to mask Kashmir Independence

by PROF GHULAM MOHYUDDIN WANI

Introduction

In the January3-11 of Feburary, 1973 the parcel received in the Iraqi Embassy of Pakistan was found to have illegal weapons. It so happened that at Islamabad Airport a bullet felt from such a diplomatic parcel which necessitated Pakistani police to raid the embassy The linking of this cache to mitigate Kashmir cause through proxy is the theme to be proved here in this paper.

WEAPONS FOUND IN Iraqi. Embassy.

They found a large weapons being transported from Iraqi Airlines up to Karachi and from there to Islamabad. It was the negligence of police and alertness of a common Pakistani labour which found this bullet and compiled Police to investigate the case and find the weapons n the total weapons found on searching the embassy in presence of Iraqi Ambassador Mr Salmani were of Russian Make and marks. They consisted of Stein guns 600, Tousands of Guns. Wireless sets, firearms and other weapons. It was also seen that many such boxes containing these arms were empty. Thus proving a large emanation having been distributed by the London conspirators to execute their plan the whole weapons were distributed among the tribal’s of Shared and Blochistan, thereby proving the designs of the loon planners.

The present talabnization and unrest in these areas continue their legacy from the conspirators. This is as said by me earlier that one who digs a ditch for others fells himself in it. In later years this cache was used against the Russian occupants by those who aimed it at maiming the Pakistan. Here the role of ISI in diverting the war to the warmongers land is justified to save Pakistan.

Thus to that extent the evil designs of the communist bloc were partially reverted back but damaging the federal structure and governance of the Pakistan. The northern areas since then behaved as independent tribal constituencies rather than federal Pak governance drive. The Afghanistan insurgency is thus rooted by its so called friends and only assisted by foes on the behest of Sarthe realization of this design to disintegrate Pakistan lead its strategists to plan or assist the Mujahedeen and with handy fund ,ammunition from USA after the Russian occupation of Afghanistan

it took a shape of Isalamization of the conflict. Thus the architects of murder day unrest slept n cocoons of justice and devoted a whole range of the Muslim terrotery.Man proposes God disposes came true. The arms supplier of the yesteryears crumbled under its own weight and lured American to have access to its gas and oil reserve enrooted Afghanistan. During Febuary, 1973 a similar cache of arms was cached from Peshawar University the indolent of Khan Wali Khan WAS suspected. The murder of Abdul Samad Achekzei is associated to these happenings.

This necessitated the Federal Govt of Butto to suspend the governments of Bolochistan and Shared as they were unable to contain these developments .They in turn tired to annulated the govt of but too but did not succeed. The Pakistan Supreme courts judgements of 9th September, 1973 refer. A six Judge bench investigated the matter from 12th October, 1973 to febuary, 1974 and concluded involvement and many aspects of the London plan conspiracy.

The witnesses entered were Mr Riyaz KOO a Nawaee Wakat correspondent posted in London He witnessed the nexus .He testified the meetings of Wali Khan with Shiek of Kashmir, along with annoyed leaders of POK NOTABLY H khursheed,Molvi Noor m Uddin,Sasdar Qoum,Sikindar Hayat,Amaullah Khan.

These leaders were lured and financed by RAW and they were tempted to do so for the united Kashmir as an Independent country as it was before 1947.This processing and preserving Pakistan was tried under many writ petitions of PAK Supreme court which were withdrawn after Buttoo was dethroned by ZIAULL HAQ ON 5th of .July, 1977. On 3rd June 1974 Buttoo had hinted towards a joint war on Pakistan being planned by India and Afghanistan to execute the London Plan of disintegrating Pakistan and annexing POK with Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. On 14th July,1973 Chinese representative in UNO exposed the London plan by citing Russia and India are conspiring to disintegrate Pakistan futher.

This help and speech threw Pakistan IN THE LAP OF PAK-CHINA universal pact ,which Sino-pack agreement China –Pakistan friendship has been a bridge to hinder the trifurcation of Pakistan and shall act as a deterrent to foil all such attempts in future. Even today the west is not comfortable with Sino –pack relations on one side and allures India with mechanizations and ISREALI ways to curb just and recognized cause of Kashmir. The Sino-Indian relations always got a lull first due to Russian influence and now under American Influence.

The recent nuclear accord with USA has brought this part of the world on the brink of war. The nuclear holocaust Amy is difficult to contain for the following reasons. 1. Weakening democracy principles in India where minority mosques Babri MAJEED was demolished in open and broad day light under the eyes of world MEDIA eyes and camera. The murder of Muslims in Gujarat and blue star operation in Punjab all are the root cause of reactive actions falsely described as terrorism.

The fact is both the democracies USA AND India have let loose the worst type of Govt sponsored terrorism in Kashmir,GAZA,AFGANISTAN,Pakistan,Iraq. 2.The help of USA to India via Israel to combat the super power status of china is another potent cause of future destruction on the part of earth.Whta we see today in Raunchily PRADESH,Kashmir,Tibet ,Thiawan,Afgan,PAKISTAN,Iraq, sudan,Somalia cards indicated a holocaust near to us .It may be directly or indirectly Kashmir centric .It I were to solve Kashmir now than never.Todays Indian News of 11 thousand Chinese troops in Gilgit make the beginning of dooms day predicted events of this sub content. 3. The ruler of India being alleged to be influenced by Italian mafia.

The masterminding of plans and executions by USA backed and bribed policy makers. The furtherance of western interested and false pride of naked, hungry nation in nuclear proliferation can be the causes of a ruin beyond repairs. The beg-parthawsarthy accord.indra-shiek accord of 1971 and 1947, 1938 events downgraded the image of shiek mohd Abdullah and brought him to be looked not higher than to the status of his companions like Bakhshi. His grave is guarded by forces and is vulnerable to same treatment anytime as that of Bakhshi.

There has been seven attempts to conceal and conspire Kashmir cause and UNO resolutions to shape it as a border issue. Truth is and shall remain the kashmir dispute is an international dispute where the independent state of Kashmir bigger the England has been mutilated and subjugated inflicting worst human rights violations by both Indian forces, world opinion makers.

INDIA’S DISASTER MANAGEMENT IN A SHAMBLES

In one of my recent blogs I had launched a scathing criticism against our rulers and bureaucrats for their penchant for acting on the spur of the moment. Uptill now, when a tragedy of immense magnitude affects our nation – means our citizens – these leaders and bureaucrats sit transfixed or in modern parlance “fevi-kwiked” in their cosy seats cherishing and relishing happy moments.

One wonders why plants in winter go in dormancy and do not shoot or fruit .The upper ground portions of the plants seem to have dried as most of the leaves are shed and generally budding or grafting is not performed in winter. The War in Afghanistan

Once the communist government of Afghanistan fell in the year 1992, a civil war was being fought between various groups of fighters, the Mujahdeen, who were ant-communist. It was in this chaotic realm that Mullah Mohammed Omar became a leader of a new fighting group. He called them the “Taliban.”

The Taliban

The word Taliban translates to “student.” Many of Omar’s first recruits were students of Islam. Those members of the Taliban were also part of the ethnic group the Pashtun and they were seeking to impose their version of Islamic law on the country. They were extremists to put it mildly. Under the laws of the Taliban women could not go to school nor could they work outside of their homes.

The men had to grow beards and regularly attend religious services and those that belonged to a religious minority had to wear clothing that identified them as non-Islamic. No television, no statues or idols that were not Islamic were allowed. These artifacts were destroyed resulting in the destruction of many valuable ancient relics.

Osama Bin Laden & the Taliban

The new Taliban rule under Omar attracted many other extremists and one of these was Osama bin Laden. He was the leader of the terrorist group called al-Qaeda. As a wealthy Saudi Arabian son, he decided to help and financially support the Taliban ruled government.

Osama bin Laden’s history with Afghanistan dates back to the invasion of the Soviets in the year 1979. He supported the jihad that was part of the resistance against the Soviets and it was an ironic note that during that time period the United States was a huge supporter of the resistance of Afghanistan. They helped to set up in Pakistan, schools for refugee children that ironically turned into a place for the radicals of Islam to train.

The Conflict in Afghanistan Today

After the terrorist attacks by Al-Qaeda on September 11th, 2001 on the U.S. Pentagon and the New York City World Trade Center, the United States under the leadership of President George Bush began the campaign called “Operation Enduring Freedom” a conflict with Afghanistan. The war in Iraq later on distracted the carrying out of the goals in Afghanistan and the fugitive Osama bin Laden is still at large. Many argue that the U.S. should never have engaged in conflict in Iraq, but instead should have focused all their military might to finishing what was begun in Afghanistan.

Currently many of those members of the United States government are calling for an end to the Iraq conflict in order to focus all the military’s attentions on finishing what was started with the campaign “Operation Enduring Freedom.” Many of the citizens of the United States agree with this assessment as more than 10 billion dollars a month is going towards these conflicts. The only goal reached in Iraq was getting rid of Saddam Hussein. The government is still not stable and doesn’t appear to be so any time soon.

Afghanistan is supposedly where Osama bin Laden has been hiding out and for many Americans capturing the man responsible for the deaths of more than 3000 Americans in a most vicious terrorist attack is much more important than what the military is trying to accomplish in Iraq.

I still regularly wake up thinking about the war with Iraq and feeling sick in my stomach.

it’s been a new experience for me and for all of us in Australia. Never before have we launched an attack on a nation that hasn’t declared war on us first. Never before has an Australian Prime Minister committed the country to a course of action so diametrically opposed to the will of the majority. Never before have I had to live with the feeling of having blood on my hands. I find all of this quite hard to live with.

Personally I don’t know what has been more sickening – the way in which the politicians have

tried to sell the war, or the way in which the media have packaged it. In both cases they seem

to be taking us for fools. Wasn’t it an American president who said ‘you can fool all of the

people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t make fools of

all of us forever’ (something like that)? Surely these tactics must eventually backfire.

I’ll restrain myself from carrying on with a general rant here, as such rants on the war are a

dime a dozen at the moment. I will though make one specific observation that arises out of my

friendship with Morde Vanunu.

Morde, as you’ll remember, has been imprisoned in Israel since September 1986 when he spilled

the beans on Israel’s nuclear armament stockpile. Morde spent the first eleven and a half years of his eighteen-year sentence in solitary onfinement, all because he made public

something that should never have been kept secret – Israel’s massive stockpile of weapons of

mass destruction.

Morde was due for parole this year, but amazingly enough this seems to have been completely

overlooked by the authorities. The reasoning behind this apparent glitch in the judicial

process is obvious enough. It is a very inexpedient time to be drawing attention to the fact that Israel has more weapons of mass destruction than all the rest of the Middle East put together.

This is where the moralistic rhetoric of the pro-war politicians really sticks in my gullet.

Those who have been preaching so passionately about the need to rid the Middle East of these

abominable weapons are fully aware of what is going on in neighbouring Israel and are happily

turning a blind eye to it. It does fill me with shame to have been part of the team that waged

war on the basis of this sort of hypocrisy.

So where do we go from here? This is the question we are all facing now. Personally I cannot see any way forward. As far as forming a new Iraq goes, it seems to me that the Americans have

two choices. Either they install a pro-American puppet or they allow the people of Iraq to

install a leader of their own choice. If they sincerely do the latter they will surely get

another Islamic fundamentalist anti-American government. If they install a puppet, the people

of Iraq will hate the new government and anti-American sentiment will continue to grow and

fester throughout the Muslim world. It appears to be a no-win situation. Am I missing something?

Instrumental Music in Church

The vast majority of instrumental music in church for many, many years has been the exclusive province of the organ. There is no doubt that a good organist playing a good organ in a large cathedral is a thrilling sound which greatly enhances worship. However, this isn’t the only form of instrumental music which finds its way into churches these days. Many acts of contemporary worship are led by worship bands of one kind or another.

Dance in Worship – Its Origins and Use in Church

Dance and music go together. To express ourselves in movement is a very natural human instinct and it has always been thus. In human social life, dance has always played a huge part. Every generation of popular music brings its own style of dancing enabling people to respond to the music in a physical way rather than by just sitting and listening. It is only logical to assume that such expression can be used in a worship situation too.

Working as a team, Moody and Sankey evolved their very own style of ‘Gospel Hymns’ which their congregations found attractive to listen to, easy to sing and which carried a clear message.
