American Red Cross
Please Help Katrina Victims
Part burn out, part pre-occupation.
There just seems to be so much going on, and with it, so much chatter. Miers, Iraq, Miller, whatever else seems to be the issue du jour. It isn't that there's nothing important, just that I seem to have little to say.
I'm not an expert on con-law, so I'll refrain from Miers comment. Is she qualified? Sure. Is she the best choice, even a good choice? No. But, we've turned so much of our self-governance over to the courts, both right and left, that what do we expect. You can't get a real jurist, a real scholar, so instead we get milquetoast. Why? We deserve no better.
I watch the events in Iraq, and two things strike me. One is the unbelievably historical course of events and two, the complete refusal of the press to even cover it. And what's worse, we know exactly why. And what's even worse than that? We don't seem to care too much.
For a long time I chronicled clearly that we were winning in Iraq, and why we were. More and more I've been proven prescient.
As for my pre-occupation, I will cover that shortly.
